Frederick County Public Schools staff asked the Curriculum & Instruction committee to approve MSDE grants to support Judy Center duty centers across the district. Presenters said each grant is worth $330,000 and must fund two positions required by MSDE: a program administrator and an outreach coordinator, both expected to be housed in school buildings with dedicated programming space.
A Judy Center representative described the centers as year‑round, no‑charge programs for children from birth through age 5 in the school catchment, and said duties include family engagement events, case management and early identification screenings. "Each of those grants are funded through MSDE, and they are 330,000," the presenter said. Staff asked the committee for approval of grant awards for the district's duty‑center sites and explained the grants support evening programming using school facilities.
