The Chaska Economic Development Authority (EDA) met immediately after the council adjourned and adopted Resolution EDA 2026‑71 to call a public hearing for Aug. 31 on the proposed establishment of Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District No. 26, Big Woods Business Park. Staff told the EDA the item is identical to the council item and that both bodies must take actions because the EDA and city are overlapping entities.
A staff speaker noted that while in some cities the EDA differs from the council, in Chaska the same individuals serve in both roles and the public hearing will be held as scheduled. The EDA adopted the resolution by motion with no recorded opposition and closed its meeting by motion to adjourn.
The public hearing is scheduled for Aug. 31; the EDA and council will consider public testimony and any additional materials at that hearing before making a final determination about creating the TIF district.
