Planning Board flags extraction, fire and electrical requirements for proposed dispensary

During the Aug. 5 hearing, committee members emphasized that extraction operations (solvent-based processing of concentrates) trigger separate safety and NFPA requirements and that the town will require an initial satisfactory inspection by the fire chief or fire inspector before operations may begin. A committee member referenced NFPA/extraction-related language and urged the applicant to consult the state and local fire code authorities.
Applicant Greg Craig said he will not perform extraction of concentrates (oils, wax) and confirmed he intends to have required inspections and to work with a master electrician. Craig also told the board he plans to upgrade electrical service to 400 amps to handle equipment loads; the board advised coordinating with the utility and bringing electrical load documentation to the next meeting for review by staff and inspectors.
"Are you gonna be running that kind of work? No," the applicant said when asked about extraction. The board recorded that satisfactory initial inspections and any state-required fire-marshal signoffs are conditions for final approval.
