Historic plaque program honors 26 St. Pete Beach properties

Kristin Coleman, the city’s planning manager, presented the revived historic plaque program and called forward 26 recipients to receive cast-bronze plaques recognizing locally designated properties.
"Our historic buildings and homes tell the story of St. Pete Beach and the people who helped shape our community," Coleman said, noting that 55 structures received local historic designations since November 2024 and that the city included hardware and installation instructions with the plaques. Coleman described placement best practices — near primary entrances, visible from sidewalks and about five to six feet above grade — and reminded owners to protect bronze plaques from the elements.
Board members read recipient addresses aloud and invited those in attendance to join a group photo. The presentation also noted 33 certificates of appropriateness for demolition had been issued recently and two structures were delisted, context staff said was important for owners considering rehabilitation or replacement.
