Council asks Parks and Open Spaces and Climate Crisis commissions to prioritize CIP equity and EV charger fact-finding
Summary
Council directed the Parks & Open Spaces Commission to evaluate capital improvement plan projects for equitable distribution and asked the Climate Crisis Action Commission to prioritize fact-finding on EV charging infrastructure. Both commissions were asked to report back before staff time is allocated to implementation.
Councilmembers discussed the Parks & Open Spaces Commission (POSC) workplan and asked the commission to prioritize evaluation of capital improvement plan projects to ensure equitable distribution of park improvements across the city to accommodate projected growth. The council asked the POSC to report findings to the council before staff time is invested.
Separately, the Climate Crisis Action Commission (CCAC) was asked to prioritize fact-finding regarding electric vehicle charging infrastructure for its 2026 workplan and to report its findings to the council. Council tasked Councilmember Chris Carlson to work with Councilmember Savannah Erickson (POSC) and Councilmember Craig Cyr (CCAC) to draft memos to the commissions reflecting these directions.
Both commissions will report back to the council prior to staff implementation to help the council prioritize work against staff capacity.
