The Town of Hague Board denied an appeal seeking to change the sewer EDU (equivalent dwelling unit) assessment for an apartment building on Route 8. Ginger, representing the Sewer subcommittee, summarized the appeal: the building contains seven residential rental units, the subcommittee reviewed the EDU schedule and comparable properties, and recommended denial because the current charge aligns with existing sewer law and comparable properties.
Ginger told the board the subcommittee's review included checking other rental properties and bedroom counts; "We reviewed the EDU schedule ... and we feel that it's correct, because there are 7 residential units there that are rented," she said. The board then voted to keep the EDU schedule unchanged. Chair noted the appellant, Mr. Rickema, did not assert the underlying property data were incorrect but was requesting a schedule change.
The board did not adopt a town-wide change to the EDU schedule; members emphasized that making an exception could require opening the rule to others.
