Council members reported a strong turnout at National Night Out and thanked staff and volunteers for organizing the event. "It was a great event with all the city employees there and the police officers and the other city vehicles down there," a department head said.
Parks/events staff announced a weekend movie showing (tickets $5) and staff confirmed a polling-place change: the Aug. 11 elections will be held at City Hall with Ward 1 in the council chambers and Ward 2 in the meeting room; polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. City staff also announced the launch of a new city website with improved navigation and a feature called "doc access" that provides translated PDFs in many languages; staff invited residents to suggest additional links or content.
A council member asked whether planned seal coating would finish before school starts so crosswalks can be marked; staff said they would follow up.
