The Plevna Town Council confirmed March 9 that it was awarded a $35,000 Montana Coal Endowment Planning (MCEP) grant to fund a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) for sewer line repairs, with a required local match of $7,000. Clerk Ashley Bondell told the council that under the award structure the town will receive $28,000 from the grant after matching funds.
Because the town's RFP selecting Brosz Engineering (issued late 2023) remains valid through 2026, the council voted to proceed under that existing RFP and approved a task order to have Brosz prepare the PER so the town can remain on the timeline for a later project grant. The council also authorized Mayor Gary Thielen and Councilwoman Michele Gray as signers for grant documentation. Bondell said the grant uses a two-phase reimbursement schedule, not the three phases the town initially anticipated, and the implementation schedule was adjusted accordingly.
