Consultants outlined eight signature projects intended to shape Hague’s future and grant applications: redevelop the visitor/welcome center; community center improvements (storage/records vault, kitchen upgrades and possible library/museum space); town park enhancements (playground, beach improvements, accessible pathways and expanded docks); a trails master plan; a hamlet enhancement (streetscape, signage) plan; a Haig Brook management strategy; a focused marketing strategy and a building needs and opportunities assessment.
Clavier emphasized the projects are interrelated and meant to preserve Hague’s character while improving year‑round amenities and grant competitiveness. Officials noted several capital items—town highway garage, transfer station, sewage treatment upgrades and stormwater resiliency projects—are already on the town’s engineering work list and that the town is pursuing grants including Climate Smart Communities and rural roads funding for erosion and shoreline work.
Why it matters: the project list frames the town’s near‑term grant strategy and project priorities; residents at the meeting used the list to weigh tradeoffs between capital improvements, environmental management and preserving beach access.
