Planner Tracy Clavier told the audience the community survey drew 248 responses and highlighted strong appreciation for Hague’s natural beauty, small‑town atmosphere and lake access. "As a place to live... about 85% people believe that it's an amazing place to live," Clavier said while summarizing the survey results and describing areas of concern including business variety, infrastructure and property taxes.
The survey framed three broad paths — strong growth, incremental growth and status quo — and respondents mostly favored preservation but also indicated interest in targeted improvements such as beach and waterfront maintenance, improved parking and more year‑round housing. Clavier said the survey and foundational planning documents will inform the committee's recommended vision and help the town be competitive for grants.
Why it matters: the survey gives officials a public evidence base to prioritize projects and pursue grants; residents and board members cited the results during the discussion about the welcome center and other signature projects.
