The Hague Town Board opened public hearings for several lakeshore properties seeking wastewater-system variances and heard detailed engineering explanations and public questions. Speakers described requested reductions in separation distances to private wells, retrofit plans for existing pump stations, and slope deviations. The town-designated engineer’s letter (Cedarwood) — received the morning of the hearing for at least one application — generally supported some variances but flagged concerns about pump-station proximity to lake and property lines.
Engineer (on the record) described seven variances for the Brady Family Trust property, including a proposed 12-foot separation where codes call for 20 feet in one example and a requested 2:1 slope where the code calls for 3:1. On testing and mitigation, he said a 24-hour standing-water/leakage test for repurposed tanks or watertight certification would be a feasible condition. "They even made a suggestion of a 24 hour, water test or leakage test, which, you know, we could easily identify," the engineer said. The board indicated it would accept either the standing-water test or, if necessary, switching to a grinder pump as options to meet Cedarwood’s concerns.
