At 6:09 PM Jeff Scott and Ron Rzasa of the Economic Development Committee and consultant Rik Ekstrom presented a feasibility discussion on creating a childcare facility in Chesterfield. Ekstrom said his firm would provide initial services free of charge to develop the concept and research grant opportunities to help fund the project.
Ekstrom discussed potential sites, including the M&T Bank building listed for $750,000 and the American Legion building as possibilities. On the question of whether a bank would discount or transfer the property for community use, Ekstrom said the broker "didn't say no, she said anything is possible and to reach out to the local representative for the M&T Bank here." The presenters also said they will meet with Walpole about a nonprofit formed there to repurpose town-owned properties and to learn from an existing daycare conversion.
