Marcia Rasmussen notified the committee that a ribbon-cutting event for the Mass Central Rail Trail (MCRT) is scheduled for July 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Diamond intersection. She said remaining construction — including completion of crossings at Route 20 and Union Avenue and some plantings along the trail — is expected to be completed by mid-July; advisory yard signs to alert cyclists about crossing safety will be installed later in July.
Rasmussen clarified that the Town will handle limited maintenance tasks such as clearing trees across the trail, but that the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is responsible for most ongoing maintenance. Ms. Eliason asked about maintenance responsibilities and Rasmussen provided that division of duties.
