City staff and council highlighted recent community projects and grant activity at the May 26 meeting. Mayor Tina Hernandez and Mayor Pro Tem Araceli Ochoa praised the Senior Center, Resource Hub and Transit Center ribbon cutting; Ochoa acknowledged partners TCAG and 4Creeks and suggested scheduling a TCRTA presentation for a future meeting.
City Engineer Jason Watts said the SS4 grant application was submitted before the deadline and that the GO Rail grant application is due June 8 to support design of an additional railroad crossing on the town's east side. He also said tentative plans for the Senior Homes project remain on schedule with construction expected near the end of June pending approvals and bidding. Public Works Director Steven Thompson reported Tulare County found zero deficiencies in the city's recent hazardous-waste inspection and described water-line repairs and splash pad maintenance (splash pad opening delayed by cool weather).
