The Farmersville City Council voted 3-0 on May 26 to adopt Resolution 2026-016, calling for submission to voters of a ten percent transient-occupancy tax (TOT) measure. Mayor Pro Tem Araceli Ochoa moved the motion and Councilmember Gregorio Gomez seconded; Mayor Tina Hernandez opened and closed the public hearing at 6:39 p.m.
City Attorney Mike Farley advised the council on allowable public outreach, saying the city may hold town halls, post information on the City’s website and include flyers in utility bills. "They are allowed to do all of those things," Mr. Farley stated on the record during council inquiry about outreach options.
The resolution was recorded as approved 3-0. The council did not record further debate in the transcript; implementation steps, ballot timing and estimated revenue were not specified in the meeting record.
