Selectman Costa provided updates on Somerset's 250th celebration at the June 25 meeting, outlining accessibility and logistics for the July 4 events. He said two wheelchair-accessible vans will transport attendees to event areas and back, with shuttle stops at North Elementary School, Town Hall, Old Town Hall, Council on Aging, South School, Middle School and South Complex. He noted that entertainment and a drone show are planned but could be disrupted by thunderstorms or high winds.
Selectman Costa also announced the dunk tank schedule and the times selectmen will be in the tank: Selectman Bednarik from 3:00–3:30 pm, Selectman Smith from 3:30–4:00 pm and Selectman Costa following at 4:00 pm. He "suggests bringing a lawn chair." Town Administrator Mark Ullucci said staff are prepared for the scheduled events and wished residents a great Fourth of July.
The board encouraged residents to use the shuttle stops and take weather contingencies into account.
