Somerset delays action on Cannabis Control Commission equity policy after mixed comments from selectmen

Town Administrator Mark Ullucci told the Board on June 25 that the Cannabis Control Commission has recently updated rules and that Somerset is obligated to comply with those equity mandates; he said one requirement is that the model policy must be posted on the town website. Selectman Smith asked for two weeks to review the model policy. Selectman Bednarik said he was neither in favor nor opposed and wanted time to review. Selectman Costa expressed opposition on principle, stating he "does not believe in rewarding someone who has been convicted of a marijuana crime in the past." The Board tabled the item to the next meeting to allow additional review and discussion. The board also discussed placing a proposal to establish a submission review fee for Host Community Agreement applications on a future agenda so members could review a supplemental municipal fee comparison provided by Town Planner Amy Messier (letter dated June 24, 2026).
