Claymont highlights Zearn progress; board approves 2026–27 Calendar A

Jodie Miles, Assistant Superintendent/Curriculum Director/Federal Programs Director, presented highlights of the district’s Zearn math progress and said Claymont was asked to provide information to Governor DeWine for potential use in his state of the state address.
During board discussion Mr. Rentsch presented 2026–27 Calendars A and B and said unions preferred Calendar A; after discussion the board approved Calendar A as the official 2026–27 school-year calendar. The motion to approve Calendar A passed on a roll-call vote with Ms. Campbell, Mrs. Grandison, Mrs. Host, Mr. Peters and Mrs. Wolf voting yes.
The meeting also included recognition of academic teams and advisors: Taryn Householder (CORAS Outstanding Elementary Teacher), the high school Mock Trial team (advisor Heather Dotts), Power of the Pen team (advisors Alisha Mahaffey and Lindsey Tulak), and the Scholar Challenge team (advisor Brian Schilling).
