Mayor said Beacon will continue encouraging housing construction and affordability and noted that Dutchess County planning recognizes Beacon has done more than its fair share, with almost 30% of rental units in affordable programs and 25% of new units in recent years involving reduced‑rent programs.
He said planning is underway for housing and replacement parking on the commuter parking lot north of West Main Street that will be consistent with current zoning and include 10% of units with below‑market rents. Mayor also noted Beacon homeowners received most awards in the state ADU grant round and that Round 2 of the program will start this year.
