Medina Transit reported improving ridership and operational metrics and outlined a new passenger notification system set to begin Aug. 10.
Transit Director Shannon Rine said ridership is significantly stronger than the prior year and the agency has achieved four consecutive months of zero trip denials. Contracted Senior Adult Services remain at roughly 1,300–1,400 trips per month. Rine described a passenger notification program that will send a day-prior reminder (allowing passengers to confirm or cancel) and a 15-minute arrival alert, with options for phone, voicemail, email or text; he called the initiative a "win-win-win." Commissioners discussed automatic enrollment with passengers asked to indicate their preferred communication method when booking rather than opting in separately.
Commissioner Hambley raised the possibility of expanding Medina Transit's Flex service in Montville Township and asked staff to review load data and feasibility, especially with the future VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in mind. Transit staff agreed to review numbers and continue the conversation.
