Planning staff presented a compiled tracking sheet covering applications from August 2024 (when the council amended the city code to change parking minimums) through December 2025 and said the intent of the council’s adoption was to "check-in" on how the new rules are being implemented. "In August 2024, the council adopted a local law amending the city code to eliminate parking minimums in certain commercial districts and then reduce parking minimums in the outer districts, and then they added parking maximum," the staff member summarized.
The staff member said they reviewed agendas and application materials and grouped results into approved projects, projects still under review and not-applicable cases. The draft report will include counts of projects and units, a column comparing prior and current parking requirements, and notes about reliance on municipal lots; staff recommended adding municipal-lot utilization and tracking withdrawals to better understand cumulative impacts.
