The sheriff's office presented a memorandum of understanding with Tropical Texas Behavioral Health (TTBH) to reimburse medical costs for inmates identified under civil-commitment statute 46B. Norbert Yacht, the division chief speaking for the sheriff, said the MOU would provide reimbursement for inmate medical costs associated with 46B commitments and asked the court to authorize the sheriff to sign the agreement.
Commissioners asked a brief set of operational questions about capacity and personnel dedicated to inmate care; the division chief said the office is designating additional officers for the role and that staffing is currently adequate. The court approved the MOU by motion and authorized the sheriff to execute the necessary documents subject to final review.
