Barker board aligns no‑hat and cell phone rules through 10th period and reviews safety terminology

Principal Dr. Love informed the Board that the district’s Codes of Conduct and Safety Plans were under review before a July 9 public hearing and asked whether the no‑hat rule and the internet‑enabled device/cell phone policy should be consistent through 10th period. Trustees agreed to extend both policies through 10th period (10th period runs 2:30–3:15 p.m.), and Dr. Love said she will ensure the Codes mirror the Board’s decision.
Dr. Love also told the Board that the district will incorporate the New York State‑adopted 'I Love U Guys' emergency response terminology into 2025‑26 building and district safety plans (evacuate, shelter, lockdown, hold, secure lockout). She noted the Building Safety Plan is confidential and will be provided to the Board only. The district plans to include training and parent communications about the changes.
