The Barker Central School District Board unanimously conferred tenure on four staff members during its May 12 meeting.
Motions to confer tenure passed 7–0 for Amanda Cottle (Reading, effective Sept. 1, 2025), Emily Smith (Special Education, effective Sept. 1, 2025), Kyle Sosnowski (Secondary Math, effective Sept. 1, 2025) and Jessica Monaco (Social Studies 7–12, effective Sept. 19, 2025). Dr. Reimer recommended each appointment and highlighted the recipients’ classroom work and student relationships.
Regarding Amanda Cottle, Dr. Reimer said she had worked through the COVID period focusing on reading and had produced evident gains. He described Emily Smith as effective at incorporating technology and teaching strategies in special education. For Kyle Sosnowski, administration noted his ability to push students outside their comfort zones; Jessica Monaco was credited with successfully moving to older grades and supporting the Seal of Civic Readiness program. All tenure motions were moved and seconded as listed in the official minutes and recorded as unanimous.
