Barker CSD adopts SED list of Impartial Hearing Officers and sets compensation rates

On the Superintendent’s recommendation and a motion by C. Gancasz, the Board adopted the SED-updated list of Impartial Hearing Officers effective July 1, 2025, and resolved that the District will appoint the first available certified Impartial Hearing Officer on a rotational basis for applicable proceedings under Education Law Section 4404(1).
The Board also set compensation and expense rules: certified Impartial Hearing Officers to be paid $100 per hour for pre-hearing, hearing and post-hearing work; office expenses and travel time reimbursed at $40 per hour; automobile travel at the district mileage rate; airline or train costs at actual reasonable cost; and lodging reimbursed up to $80 per night with receipt or $55 per night without receipt. The Board specified it will not pay for hearing dates adjourned or cancelled with two or more business days' notice.
