Board agrees to use projected surplus to retain reading specialist for one year

Superintendent Dr. Reimer and Business Official Mr. Carter told the Board that the district could use part of a projected surplus to retain a reading specialist for one year after federal stimulus funding ends. Dr. Reimer said the carry-over surplus is currently projected at $709,550 and recommended using surplus funds to preserve the position for 2025–2026; the Board concurred.
Mr. Carter emphasized that some budget lines remain uncertain (utilities and retiree submissions due by April 1) and noted two of the three stimulus teaching positions remain in the proposed budget while one would not. The Board approved moving forward with using the surplus for the position for one year while continuing to monitor state developments.
