Glenn Heights CPAC to schedule ride-alongs and Public Safety Academy participation; chief outlines request process

The police chief said volunteers may submit a ride-along request; staff will run quick background checks and the chief or deputy chief will approve the ride-along. "We'll do some very high level internal checks. And once it's a green light, on that, myself or DC file will be the ones that, you know, approve it," the chief said. Members discussed doing group ride-alongs as a committee so participants could observe policing activities together.
As for the Public Safety (citizen) Academy, the chief said it is a joint PD/fire program: the first several weeks focus on police topics and later weeks on fire. He said he and the fire chief will coordinate dates and present them at a future CPAC meeting so members can sign up.
