Administrators responded that several positions remain open—"We do have several, openings. Most of them are special education," and that filling special-education positions is difficult due to paperwork, certification and the length of the IEP process. One administrator described how retired teachers are sometimes restricted from substituting in areas for which they are not currently certified, which complicates long-term substitute availability.
Board members asked for a list of open positions and requested the administration plan to present openings and possible long-term substitutes at the upcoming special meeting. The personnel slate (minus the pulled names) was approved by voice vote 4–0.
