Hines council approves $282,280.50 payment for splash pad

The Hines Common Council on April 14 approved a $282,280.50 payment to Water Odyssey for a splash pad at the city park. Councilor Roger Hodge moved to authorize the payment, and Councilor Dean Brizendine seconded; the motion passed with all ayes.
City Administrator Roxane Worley told the Council the Parks Committee reviewed revised renderings and chose some features to remove and others to add before finalizing the order. "The company redesigned a couple of the features, so the decision was made to go with a couple other features," Worley said. Worley earlier listed grant applications and awards tied to park improvements, including a pending $50,000 T-Mobile Small Communities grant intended to support the splash pad purchase.
The Council's approval follows recent Park work: crews finished pouring concrete for Phase II and are preparing the Pour in Play surface. Worley said the amphitheater shipping was delayed but scheduled to arrive the week of April 27. The decision authorizes the contract payment; the motion carried unanimously.
