A staff presenter recommended the board adopt a reimbursement resolution to accept an educational technology grant from the Virginia Public School Authority (VPSA). "The total grant amount that we would receive for the upcoming school year is $102,000. We're required to provide a 20% local match of $20,400, which is currently budgeted in the technology line item," the presenter said.
The presenter explained eligible purchases include student and teacher computers, network improvements and handheld devices, and noted the district's primary source for computers has been this grant program. The board moved, seconded and approved the resolution to receive the funds; staff said the grant will support purchases of laptops and network capability improvements.
