Ski Club wraps season with 12 youth participants; Commission considers expansion

Dan Carr reported the Ski Club concluded its season on Feb. 10, following a make-up night for a prior cancellation. He told the Commission the program served 12 youth this season and used five community volunteer chaperones.
Carr said the operating budget for the season was approximately $3,000 and that an invoice for bus transportation from All-Star is expected to be billed to the Town Treasurer. He plans to meet with the school principal for feedback and distribute a school-wide survey of participants and non-participants to inform future recruitment. Commission members discussed seeking outside scholarship or grant support (past support noted from Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation and Salisbury Winter Sports Association) and evaluating whether to expand the program from four to six ski days based on cost and participation.
