Chair Melissa Lopes and the Falls Village Recreation Commission voted unanimously Feb. 11 to submit a STEAP Grant pavilion request developed by the STEAP subcommittee.
The proposal seeks a pavilion consistent with the Town Farm Master Plan and favors the larger footprint previously costed (approximately 60 feet by 30 feet). Proposed features include a polished concrete floor, ceiling fans, a frost-free hydrant, multiple GFCI outlets, adjustable wind shielding on one side, motion-activated floodlights, solar-ready asphalt roofing and optional fireplace and half‑wall seating. The motion to approve submission was moved by Commissioner Lauren Killawee and seconded by Chair Melissa Lopes; the vote was unanimous.
Commission members said the pavilion would align with the Town Farm Master Plan and identified donor coordination and clarity on scope as next steps. The Chair will invite “Lou” to the March meeting to discuss potential donor involvement and clarify the cupola plan tied to the pool building. The pavilion request will be forwarded to the STEAP implementation team for consideration; the timing and funding decision are subject to that team’s process.
