City staff described a full reconstruction of the Middle Park West parking lot, saying the work will replace severely deteriorated concrete with new concrete curb and gutter and a new asphalt parking surface and that sidewalks will remain open during construction.
"This parking lot is gonna be entirely reconstructed," staff said, noting the project will start after the aquatic season ends and will be completed before the frozen-landing season. The project area sits just west of the Frozen Landing and across from the YMCA sports complex.
Councilmember Jaeger moved to approve a resolution adopting plan specifications and the form of contract for the project; the motion was seconded and passed on a unanimous roll call. Councilmembers asked one operational question about directional striping to ease egress, and staff confirmed striping changes will be made as part of the project.
Staff and council said the schedule is intended to limit disruptions to the busiest recreational periods and that further construction details and bid documents will be managed through the contract process.
