Council amends municipal code to simplify disposition and lease approvals

Town Attorney Mike Hyman presented amendments to municipal code sections 14.02.040 and 14.02.050 that would give the council additional flexibility to convey or lease town-owned real property by resolution in specified circumstances, allow a right of reversion when conveying property to nonprofits, and permit administrative vacation of unused easements or unimproved rights-of-way when no public need exists.
Hyman said the proposed changes are intended to provide the council and staff greater agility for common-sense cleanups (for example, removing an obsolete alley dedication) and to avoid a protracted ordinance process for routine conveyances. Council discussed the modifications and approved the ordinance as introduced by title in a unanimous roll-call vote.
