The Huntington City Council voted Nov. 19 to accept an under-$5,000 bid from contractor Jed Black to repair exterior windows and doors at the Community Center.
Council discussed scope and cost: staff said the exterior bid came in at $4,820 to fix flashing, seal and exterior trim to stop water intrusion; interior repairs (sheetrock and painting) were higher and will be advertised for separate bids. One motioner said the exterior work should be accepted to prevent further water damage. The council approved the exterior bid by voice vote and directed staff to advertise for interior-repair bids separately.
Council members flagged possible rot and mold concerns if interior repairs are delayed and noted insurance follow-up for tree damage on Main Street that may be related to building exposures.
