Resident Kim Birkinshaw asked the council to consider hosting a drone show in Huntington, saying she reviewed examples from across Utah and prepared informational packets for council members.
Birkinshaw said a basic show costs roughly $15,000 and that prices climb from there depending on the number of drones and program length; she cited events in Price, Ogden and Salt Lake and suggested the school grounds could work as a venue. Council members responded that they would ‘‘take a look’’ and consider budget implications and sponsorship possibilities; no formal action or funding decision was made at the meeting.
Birkinshaw encouraged council members to review the promotional videos and sponsorship models she provided so the city can decide whether to pursue the idea for a future celebration.
