Council postpones Huntington cemetery fence repairs after insurance denial

The Huntington City Council voted Oct. 15 to postpone repairs to a cemetery fence after the city's insurance carrier denied a claim, saying there was no proof the fence was hit or otherwise damaged.
Mayor Leonard Norton reported that the insurer concluded the damage likely resulted from ground settling. Councilmember Judd Beagley moved to postpone the fence repair until staff can inspect the site and develop repair options; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Norton said staff will examine the site and return with ideas for preventing future settling before authorizing repairs.
