Huntington City Council members approved five new or transferred business licenses at their Nov. 19 meeting.
Motions were made and seconded for each license. Council approved Thunder Athletics (a purchase/transition of Lorraine's dance studio), Exterior Solutions (a local handyman service), Gas Stop Huntington/BK's at 506 North Main Street, BMR Services (contract labor and trucking) and Swell Health Center, a medical-services practice looking to add providers in a building owned by Dave Sebring. Each motion passed on voice votes.
Council members discussed only minimal background on operations and confirmed the businesses met local licensing requirements before voting. The approvals will allow the businesses to proceed with required local permits and any state licensing steps they need to complete.
