Russell County School Board recognizes state champion baseball team; names teacher and employee of the year

The board recognized the Russell County high school baseball team for winning the VHSL Class 2 state championship and announced awards for staff members.
"We're gonna recognize the London High School state champion baseball team," Doctor ****** said before reading a list of players and coaches whose names were presented with a plaque the board will hang at Linden High School. The board also announced that Wanda Jen of Pointe Hickory Elementary is the 2025–26 Teacher of the Year and Dustin Presley of Homeacre Elementary is the 2025–26 Employee of the Year; both were unable to attend due to school meetings.
Board members invited the award recipients to return the following month so they can accept their awards in person. The board expressed appreciation for staff and community volunteers who prepared schools over the summer.
