The Town of Lynnfield Select Board on July 14, 2026 unanimously approved a package of year-end budget transfers presented by Finance Director David Castellarin that the town reported would produce a net deficit of $1,928,146 to close Fiscal Year 2026. Castellarin reviewed each transfer line and the funding sources staff proposed to use to cover the deficit.
Castellarin told the board the snow-and-ice line was unusually high this year and that the town added an override of $395,000 to address winter costs; he also identified a one-time $1,000,000 transfer tied to pavement work in the middle-school theater parking lot. Board member Joe Gallagher asked whether police overtime had declined after hiring a new officer; Castellarin said the overtime shown was much lower than in previous years. Vice Chair Richard Dalton moved to approve the transfers as presented; Joe Gallagher seconded and the vote was unanimous.
