Ancram board pauses final action; waits on visual consultant and escrow

After hours of presentation and public comment, the Ancram Planning Board said it would defer a SEQRA determination until independent consultants complete a visual-impact analysis and a landscape review. Chair (S2) told the room the town had not yet received the escrow check to engage those consultants and that the board expected them to be available for the Dec. 4 continuation if the funds arrive.
Board members emphasized they need the consultants to address technical disputes (camera and lens sizes used in VIA simulations, cross-sectional topography and screening effectiveness) before deciding whether impacts are "significant". "Without the visual being clarified for us, I don't think we're making a determination," one board member said. The board formally voted to continue the public hearing to Dec. 4, 2025.
