A volunteer and board member identified as Fader Zorman told the council she volunteers with the Moore Bridal Shelter and the nonprofit 'more possibilities' and urged elected officials to focus on operational realities at the municipal animal shelter rather than social‑media narratives. She called for accurate, transparent reporting of shelter intake, adoption, transfer, return‑to‑owner and euthanasia numbers and said manipulation or withholding of numbers would undermine public trust.
"The transparency for reporting and the reality of the numbers, I feel like is 1 of the biggest things that has impacted the Moore shelter as a whole," Zorman said. She urged council to ensure shelter policies reflect public safety, fiscal responsibility and humane care and offered to continue the conversation outside the meeting.
Separately, staff previewed proposed standard operating procedures and an animal welfare advisory board; the city manager/staff said finalized language will be brought back to the council for approval at the first meeting in September and the council discussed timelines for soliciting applicants for the advisory board.
