Caney council approves consent agenda after Waste Connections bill pulled for review

The Caney City Council on July 20 approved the consent agenda — including minutes from July 6 and July 8 and payroll and expense items — after pulling a Waste Connections of Oklahoma bill for separate review.
Council Member Elizabeth Burch questioned the math on the Waste Connections bill and asked staff to investigate. Staff said the WEX fuel line covered two months of fuel and that they had requested removal of a former employee from the bill. The council also discussed a Core & Main invoice that was past due by 90 days; staff said payment was withheld because a newly installed pump failed within two weeks and was replaced under warranty.
A motion to approve consent agenda items F.1, F.2 and F.3 carried 4-0. Staff said they will return with corrected billing or further explanation for the Waste Connections charge at the next council meeting.
