Staff told the commission that state law changes require periodic adjustments to the city’s ADU ordinance and that the city will propose updates to remain compliant.
"One of the more significant changes was the maximum number of ADUs per lot," the presenter said, noting the legislature frequently changes ADU requirements and the city must respond to remain up to date.
Staff said the proposed work will clarify permitting for previously built ADUs, clarify statewide expansion ADU rules, and address technical limits such as maximum numbers and height or size thresholds where state law has changed.
The commission was told these ADU edits are part of the broader package of housing code amendments slated for drafting this summer.
