The Sesser‑Valier CUSD 196 Board of Education on Jan. 13 gave preliminary (first‑reading) approval to a revised District Mission Statement and a set of board/district goals. Member Kirk moved the measure; Member Sample seconded it, and the board recorded unanimous approval.
Superintendent J. Henry outlined the committee timeline for finalizing policy and goals. He told the board the Policy Committee will review proposed revisions (29 policies) immediately following the meeting and will recommend final adoption in February; he also described a schedule for the superintendent and staff to prepare SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time‑Bound) goals to be considered in April or May. "Preliminary Draft (1st Reading) Completed January 13, 2025," the minutes state.
Board members did not make changes on the floor during the first reading; final adoption is expected after formal committee review and staff presentation of SMART goals.
