The consent agenda prompted extended discussion about the level of detail required in meeting minutes. Member Ford and others said some minutes are very brief while others are detailed; Ford argued many constituents cannot sift through hours of recordings to find information. "I would like to not approve any of the meeting minutes and come up with a better methodology," Ford said, urging a future agenda item to set a consistent minutes template.
Member Braxton moved to approve the consent agenda while removing several minutes (February 25, March 11 and April 22) from approval until the Board could review them further; that motion was seconded and the Board approved consent items a–d by voice vote. Board staff said they are creating standardized minutes across boards and will add timestamps to minutes going forward to improve public access.
