At the close of the public work session on Aug. 3, the council moved into executive session after a formal motion citing Colorado Revised Statutes.
"Madam chair, I move that we go into executive session for the purpose of determining positions relative to matters that may be subject to negotiations, developing strategy for negotiations and or instructing negotiators under CRS section 24 dash 6 dash 4 0 2," the council president said, adding identifying details that included settlement negotiations on pending claims, the 2027 collective bargaining agreement with IAFF Local 3, the resignation of the chief of staff (a personnel matter), and real-property matters related to the Pope Lock Building and 301 West B Street.
The chair called for favor and 'Aye' was recorded; the council moved into executive session. The chair announced the public meeting time as 7:25 p.m. on Aug. 3, 2026 and adjourned the public portion of the work session. No deliberations from the executive session were discussed publicly during the Aug. 3 meeting.
