The Selectboard reviewed several infrastructure items at the July 14 meeting, including an outstanding request for concurrence on a Route 100 culvert replacement project, two similar bridge-repair bids received after an accident, and a completed speed study whose report should be available by July 28. Jim Linville said he would check whether bids had been received for the Route 100 job and contact a contractor who worked at Taylor Farm to inquire about availability.
On a separate matter, the board discussed how to collect or fund a $672,000 town responsibility for an unnamed project. Selectboard members disagreed about the town’s prior commitments and whether the project should return to voters if costs exceed approved amounts. Deny Benson suggested spreading the cost over five years, noting a one-cent tax increase would generate about $36,000 a year toward funding. The board asked staff to review the Town Meeting record to confirm what voters approved and to bring the tax-rate discussion back for more lead time before decisions.
