Katie Fitzpatrick told the Website Committee that expenditure of grant funds for a recently completed environmental study triggered accessibility requirements that the town must meet under state auditing. She said a state compliance audit is expected next year and that potential penalties could be determined during that audit because the town "was not in complaint before monies was spent."
The committee agreed to demonstrate good-faith efforts toward compliance. Fitzpatrick said she will contact Melissa Veto to clarify specific compliance obligations, and Kim Seymour will seek guidance about possible penalties and enforcement. Members also asked whether the existing grant could reimburse website costs tied to ADA compliance; Fitzpatrick will contact Alyssa Sabetto to explore reimbursement options.
