The Town of Weston Selectboard approved a package of minor technical amendments to the zoning bylaws at its July 14 meeting but declined to change the existing building-height measurement. "We will leave the building-height language unchanged at 35 feet measured from lowest point to highest point," the minutes record following a motion by Jim Linville and second by Brian Gehlich.
During a public hearing on the amendments, Planning Commission representative Matt Bachler said the changes under consideration were mostly technical and did not alter sewer permit processes; fire department representatives objected to a proposed change in how building height would be measured, warning it could reduce rescue access and vertical ventilation safety. The board accommodated those concerns by preserving existing height language and approved the rest of the updated package unanimously.
The board recorded no changes to sewer permitting in this package and flagged larger planning issues as potential future topics for the Planning Commission. The minutes state any future substantial changes could be brought back for public hearings.
